Actor Dr. Rajasekhar today celebrated his birthday in the shadow of two gunmen provided to him by the city police. Accompanied by his wife Jeevita and his supporters, the couple went round some of the slum locations in the city, providing water purifiers to the schools; and distributing fruits to the patients at the hospitals.On this occasion, the actor announced that he was very much interested to join the mainstream of politics. Dr. Rajasekhar said: "I was always interested in social service, which is the primary qualification for taking up selfless politics. I am not a new face to the state politics. My entry into politics is certain, but I will announce my decision about joining which party, soon. I am doubly careful in choosing the party of my choice, because I should be respected and believed there." The actor profusely thanked the people of Andhra Pradesh for their overwhelming support to his family when they were attacked by the fans of Chiranjeevi, recently.
Addressing a press conference at the Film Nagar Cultural Centre, Hyderabad, Dr. Rajasekhar said: "In fact, I have been very active in social service. As a sixth class student, I was an NCC Cadet and drew admiration even from my teachers and classmates. I even took up small scale farming in our school, growing vegetables and green leaves. The produce used to be sold out. Always I used to come first, as the belt which I groomed got the best yield and returns. Further, I was the centre of attraction as a medico. Even as a doctor, I never missed my goals. I did the best research in alternate therapies concerning various diseases and ailments. I am sure; there is no disease in this world which can't be cured. Besides politics, I would also be doing my best in the arena of medical field."
Indirectly, Dr. Rajasekhar ridiculed the criticism of Chiranjeevi fans, who termed him as an outsider. "They (chiru fans) said that I was not a Telugu person. In fact, I am a Telugu man. We were in Andhra Pradesh first and later migrated to Tamilnadu. And now, my family back in Andhra Pradesh. My mother belonged to Guntur district and my father hails from Chittoor district. I was the person who did the maximum service to the Telugu film industry, in its migration from Chennai to Hyderabad."
