While JODHAA AKBAR is in news for Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, credit should also be given to third most important character in the story which is played by Sonu Sood.
Enacting the role of Rajkumar Sujamal, Sonu would be looking at JODHAA AKBAR as a ladder to success and far higher recognition in Bollywood. After being in the industry for over 5 years and mostly doing small time films, he is known most for his role as Abhishek Bachchan's elder brother in YUVA. The role fetched him many accolades and it seemed that he would make it big in Bollywood soon.
AASHIQ BANAYA AAPNE further consolidated his status as an actor since this time around he played the role of a 'romantic villain'. Meanwhile his South films were doing exceedingly well as well, case in point being CHANDRAMUKHI and ATAHADU.
However, lady luck didn't seem be in Sonu Sood's favor as after SISKIYAAN (2005), a box office failure, he hasn't seen a single Bollywood release to his name. Many of his films have been stuck in cans and the talented actor continues to wait for his dues.
All of this should change once JODHAA AKBAR releases at theaters all over on 15th February. With a director of the caliber of Ashutosh Gowariker entrusting him to play a principal character, it should be the beginning of a second innings for the young man.
